
Moldovan PM, leadership of UNDP, UNFPA discuss projects carried out in Moldova with organization's support
Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will continue to support Moldova in the priority strategic fields. The projects carried out in Moldova in partnership with these two international organizations were discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean in New York today, the government’s communication department has reported.
At a meeting with the UNDP administrator, Achim Steiner, the Moldovan PM reiterated the commitment of an active collaboration for the achievement of the goals established in the Country Programme 2023-2027, the priorities of which are the sectors: inclusive institutions, participatory governance and social cohesion in a sustainable economy and ecological development.
The Moldovan prime minister expressed gratitude for the support provided by the organization in the management of the refugees’ crisis, enhancing the energy efficiency and reducing the energy vulnerability, digital transformation, as well as for the measures of adaptation to the climate changes.
At a meeting with UNFPA Executive Director Natalia Kanem, PM Dorin Recean appreciated the organization’s crucial contribution to the management of the Ukrainian refugees’ crisis and their adaptation in Moldova. Also, the interlocutors referred to the population and housing census, conducted this year, which will provide the government with qualitative data for the working out of public policies.
The principal directions of cooperation on the next period will regard the improvement of policies in the labour market field, carrying out of programmes for young and elderly people, as well as the ensuring of efficient governance, based on data. Special emphasis will be put on the development of the initiative, EmpowerAI Hub in Moldova – innovating laboratory, which will promote the social inclusion and the gender equality.
„In the process of advancement on our European integration way, the expertise and assistance of international partners is essential, in order to enhance the capacities of the public administration, to optimize the financial management, adjust the legislation, as well as to digitally transform Moldova,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean added.
