Moldovan PM to attend EU-Moldova Association Council meeting

Chisinau, Feb. 4 /MOLDPRES/- On February 4-8, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița will be on a working visit to Brussels, to attend the 7th meeting of the EU-Moldova Association Council. For the first time, the country will be present at the event as a candidate state for joining the EU, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The evolution of Moldova's relations with the EU will be considered in Brussels  focusing on political dialogue and reforms; economic and sectoral cooperation, including in the energy, trade, as well as collaboration in the foreign and security policy.

On February 6-7, Gavrilița will also have bilateral meetings with officials from the European institutions.

The EU-Moldova Association Council meeting will be held on February 7 and will be chaired by Gavriliţa, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, vice-president of the European Commission.

Besides the issues on the bilateral agenda, the Association Council will also exchange views on regional challenges, including the impact of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The Transnistrian conflict settlement will be another topic on the agenda.

The Moldovan delegation to the Association Council will also include Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Minister of Economy Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vladimir Bolea and State Secretary in the State Chancellery Adrian Bălutel.
