Moldovan president on Independence Day says country chooses peace, European way, worthy future for next generations
Chisinau, 27 August /MOLDPRES/ - We mark a holiday which unites us everybody; we celebrate our freedom and dignity on the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova. President Maia Sandu said that this was a day on which we honour the ancestors and share the same feeling of optimism and hope for the future of the country and its children, the presidential press service has reported.
„During those 32 years, despite the difficulties, we have remained united to protect what is the dearest for us – the families, the nation, freedom. We have ahead a way with challenges; yet, we will do our utmost to become a strong country. We have chosen the peace, we have chosen the European way and a worthy future for the next generations,’’ the head of state said.
The Moldovan president also said that, on this day, 32 years after we had gained our independence, she wanted each of us to look for reasons for pride for Moldovans and Moldova. ‘’Today, I want us to celebrate our country and our people, as Moldova is seen best of all in their eyes. Moldova is seen in our eyes and grows in our hands. Let us be proud of the people who make Moldova grow.’’
The head of state noted that, for the first time in the last 30 years, we lived not only the hope for a better future, but we are also confident that we now have the chance and duty to bring Moldova to the European Union.
„Where the peace and independence of our country are protected, the people who work will have chance to live better and Moldova will be treated with respect and appreciation. We can succeed only together, just our parents gained together the independence of our country 32 years ago. An entire village is needed to educate a child. Each man is needed to make a country grow. Congratulations, Moldova!’’ President Maia Sandu added.
