New meeting of working groups for development of motor transport, roads' infrastructure held in Moldova after seven-month break
Chisinau, 20 April /MOLDPRES/ - A new online meeting of the working groups for the development of the motor transport and roads’ infrastructure was convened for today after a break of seven months. Attending the event were experts from both banks of Dniester and representatives of mediators and observers within the 5+2 format of negotiations, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The experts’ discussions were focused on the functionality of the points for registration of transport means from the Tiraspol and Rabnita cities and the need to fully reestablish their work, in order to provide the entire spectrum of services of documenting the vehicles from the Transnistrian region, in line with the provisions of the Protocol Decision from 24 April 2018, Law No 170/2018 and the Government Decision No 847/2018.
The Tiraspol representatives tackled the subject on the registration plates with the symbols non-approved by the normative framework in force, which were detained by the national law-enforcers on 22 December 2021. They also returned to the proposal of extending the mechanism of documentation with neutral registration numbers also on the transport means which carry out commercial activities. They specified, on the first subject, that the authorities empowered by law are to give their opinion. As far as the second aspect is concerned, Chisinau’s positions were repeatedly set forth earlier.
For their part, the Chisinau experts announced the inadmissibility of the actions unilaterally taken by Tiraspol as to the drivers with Moldovan registration plates and numbers, who are imposed to pay additional and unjust bills for the use of the infrastructure of roads in settlements from the left bank of Dniester and Bender municipality, for purchasing other categories of road taxes other than the ones approved by the competent national authorities, as well as the giving up of differentiated approaches enforced as to the citizens of Moldova.
The sides discussed also the difficulties faced by the public passenger transport operators from both banks of Dniester and expressed willingness to contribute to identifying viable solutions to these problems.
