Pregnant women to have benefits, even if they work during maternity leave
Chisinau, April 4 /MOLDPRES/- Pregnant women will be able to work during maternity leave and at the same time, will have benefits. Following the proposal of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the government approved today an amendment to the Regulationon on conditions for setting, calculating and paying benefits for temporary incapacity for work, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
Under the new provisions, the maternity benefit will be calculated from the income of one of the insured spouses, which will determine a higher value of this allowance. Calculating the allowance from the husband's salary will only be possible if he confirms that he has a total contribution period of at least three years or a contribution period of at least 9 months, completed in the last 24 months preceding the date of maternity leave.
"Through these adjustments, we aim to ensure compliance with the right to maternity benefit, including for pregnant women who choose to continue their work during maternity leave," Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said.
