Moldovan PM meets mayors from Stefan Voda district
Projects implemented to improve infrastructure, as well as local development priorities for the upcoming period have been discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu with representatives of local public administration and deconcentrated services from the south-eastern Stefan Voda district.
The PM noted that roads’ repair was a priority for the government. The bypass road of Troita Noua village has been recently completed, and the repair of the exit roads from Volintiri and Rascaieti towards Purcari and Stefanesti is to follow.
According to the prime minister, additional investments are needed in the healthcare sector, even though in recent years over 26 million lei has been allocated to equip medical institutions with modern equipment.
Additionally, the district has benefited from more local development projects, with a total value of 182.1 million lei. Through the European Village 1 and European Village Express programmes, 30 projects have already been implemented: 38 km of street lighting, expansion of water and sewerage networks and renovation of schools and kindergartens. Another 19 projects are being implemented through European Village 2, and 11 local roads are under construction through the Europe is Close programme.
The mayors praised the achievements of recent years, especially the construction in Crocmaz of a modern irrigation system that will serve more than 100 agricultural households. The project foresees the full modernization of two pumping stations, the rehabilitation of a storage basin with a capacity of 82,000 cubic meters, the construction of 50 km of pipelines and the installation of 119 aluminum hydrants, thus ensuring an efficient and modern irrigation system for farmers in the area.
Topics related to investments in tourism, the construction of an industrial park in the locality and investment opportunities in the reconstruction process of Ukraine were also discussed.
Another topic concerned the reform of local public administration. “We will provide the necessary tools to build strong local administrations capable of attracting projects and absorbing European funds. We will do this together, working side by side with the mayors and with the citizens of the district,” said the prime minister.
