The government’s support for implementing energy efficiency projects and initiatives for the continued development of the locality have been discussed during Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu’s working visit to the village of Festelita, Stefan Voda district, in a meeting with local authorities and a group of citizens.

Festelita has become the first energy-smart village, significantly reducing energy costs. Four public institutions – the town hall, kindergarten, school and community center – receive energy invoices close to zero, thanks to energy efficiency projects implemented with financial support on behalf of the government and the European Union. The Festelita mayoralty is also the first local public authority in Moldova to manage a photovoltaic park.

At the same time, the government has allocated almost 10 million lei for a project aimed at preventing flood risks in the central area of the village, which is currently under construction. By 2027, the roadway is to be rehabilitated, two bridges over the river will be built, sidewalks will be arranged, 15 road signs will be installed, and a protective parapet will be put in place.

Additionally, through the European Village and Europe is Close programmes, the government has invested 13 million lei in four other infrastructure modernization projects. A sewage system and a wastewater treatment plant have been built in the locality, the street lighting system was extended and the general urban plan of Festelita village was drawn up. A 0.9 km local road is also under construction.

During a meeting with a group of village residents, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu praised their initiatives and assured them that the government would provide the necessary support to continue the development of the village. This includes the modernization and equipping of the school and kindergarten, as well as the creation of a tourist route in the region.
