Speaker condemns drone incidents recorded this morning

Speaker Igor Grosu condemned the drone incidents recorded this morning, when several aircraft flew unauthorized over our country’s airspace, with bangs and an explosion later reported in a field in Florești. The official pointed out that this represents a direct risk to our security and a blatant violation of sovereignty.


“This morning, people in Cunicea, Volovița, Cernița, Vadul Rașcov, Gura Căinarului and other localities in northern Moldova were awakened by the sound of drones illegally flying over our airspace. Two of them exploded on the ground. Preliminary information indicates that the explosions occurred in the area of the town of Camenca, on the left bank of the Dniester, and near the village of Cernița, Florești. Unfortunately, in recent weeks, several aircraft have violated the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. This represents a direct risk to our security and a blatant violation of our sovereignty,” Igor Grosu said.


The official stressed that state institutions must remain vigilant, act in a coordinated manner and strengthen their capabilities to monitor and protect the airspace.


“We firmly condemn these violations by the Russian Federation. The war against Ukraine is affecting us more and more directly. Our institutions must remain vigilant, act in a coordinated manner and strengthen their capabilities to monitor and protect the airspace,” he said.


He also urged citizens to remain calm and vigilant and to follow the recommendations of the authorities.

The Speaker’s message comes after several aircraft flew unauthorized over our country’s airspace this morning, amid massive attacks by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. As a result, the country’s airspace in the northern region was temporarily closed.

At the same time, loud noises resembling explosions were heard this morning in Șoldănești and Florești districts, while an explosion was reported in a field near a farm in the village of Cernița, Florești District. The police mobilized specialized units to inspect the area and establish the circumstances of the incident.
