Chisinau, August 12 /MOLDPRES/- The head of the Moldovan delegation to Joint Control Commission (JCC), Brigadier General Ion Solonenco died today. The announcement was made by deputy prime minister for reintegration Oleg Serebrian on a social network.
The official pointed out that Ion Solonenco died in the afternoon of today. "Cruel news. Today, the heart of a close colleague, Brigadier General Ion Solonenco, stopped beating. So unexpected. It has recently been 30 years since he got involved in the CUC activity. He was an example of discipline, patriotism and dedication. His departure is an irreparable loss and these are not words of circumstance. I offer my sincere condolences to the family and relatives", wrote Oleg Serebrian.
Ion Solonenco was born on January 18, 1935. In 1996, he held the position of Deputy Minister of National Security. He was then appointed as advisor to the director general of the Intelligence and Security Service. In February 1999, General Solonenco was appointed as co-president from the Republic of Moldova in the CUC.
In January 2005, he was awarded Labor Glory Order for special merits and high professionalism in ensuring the security of the state, prodigious organizational and public activity.
