Chisinau, 11 November /MOLDPRES/ - The presidents of the parties at rule from Romania and Moldova, respectively, the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Nicolae Ciuca and Igor Grosu, at a today’s joint news briefing, said that they would consolidate the cooperation, pursuing the desideratum of Moldova’s European integration. PNL and PAS are members of the family of the European People’s Party (EPP).

Igor Grosu and Nicolae Ciuca tackled subjects on the electoral processes and urged the citizens to actively participate in the presidential elections due in Romania.

PAS president Igor Grosu said that Romania was the greatest supporter of the process of Moldova’s European integration and strongly backed Moldova in its efforts to cope with the unprecedented actions on behalf of Russia. ‘’This year, the electoral campaign was full of challenges; especially it was about interferences on behalf of Russia. PNL and PAS are members of the great family of the European People’s Party and the contribution of the European MPs, politicians, ministers, lawmakers, senators who are members of this family was an extraordinarily big one, when quite important decisions were taken as to Moldova’s European integration way. We cannot but point out the huge and constant assistance of Romania in terms of infrastructure, culture, from which Moldova benefits and will benefit. In these crucial moments, Moldova needs a European, democratic, stable Romania and we want to have, in continuation, interlocutors with whom we should continue all projects underway,’’ Grosu said.

PNL leader Nicolae Ciuca said that Romania was firmly committed to support Moldova in the process of accession to EU. He congratulated Maia Sandu on her reelection as head of state. ‘’For us, who leads in Chisinau matters very much; it is quite important that Maia Sandu managed to be reelected and to ensure the leadership for everything which means Moldova’s European integration way. I am sure that who leads in Bucharest matters for Moldova as well. It is only normal for us to have this cooperation. We will also act like this in continuation, in order to back each other from the political viewpoint,’’ Ciuca said.

Nicolae Ciuca urged the Romanian citizens from both banks of the Prut river to be vigilant, in order not to allow the ascension of formations which represent the speaking trumpet of Moscow.

On the period 22 November – 1 December, the Romanian citizens, including the citizens of Moldova who hold Romanian passports, are expected to vote for the election of the president of Romania, deputies and senators. Fifty nine polling stations will be opened in Moldova for both types of elections, presidential and parliamentary.
