DOC // New methodology for calculating passenger road transport tariffs published in Official Journal of Moldova

Passenger road transport will operate under clear rules that consider the real costs of operators and the interests of travelers. The new methodology for calculating tariffs for passenger road transport through regular services in inter-district and district traffic, developed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development in collaboration with the National Auto Transport Agency (ANTA), has been approved and published today in the Official Journal.

The document establishes a transparent tariff formation system based on actual costs (fuel, salaries, maintenance, depreciation, etc.) and introduces automatic adjustment mechanisms depending on fuel prices, the boarding coefficient, and other economic variables. At the same time, district authorities will be able to apply adjustment coefficients, taking into account the specifics of local routes.

The new framework aims to ensure safer and more comfortable transport services for passengers; fair operating conditions for operators investing in modern vehicles; predictability and balance between costs and tariffs.

The methodology's application will be monitored by ANTA and local authorities without creating new structures or additional costs. The methodology aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the passenger road transport sector and improve mobility for the population, especially in rural areas.

Currently, regular services are provided by approximately 765 operators with over 6600 vehicles, covering over 2000 routes at the national, district, and international levels, with most vehicles being more than 10 years old.
