Three judges put forward by Moldova's Superior Council of Magistracy for promotion

The Judges' Evaluation Commission has proposed to the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) the promotion of three judges following an external integrity assessment. It is about the acting Vice President of the Anenii Noi Court, Andrei Mocanu, candidate for the position of judge at the Centru Court of Appeal, Natalia Mamaliga, and the President of the Comrat Court, Igor Botezatu.

The evaluation reports have been submitted to the CSM for review and final decision-making. The subjects have been informed about the contents of the Commission's reports. The Commission did not find any integrity problems with any of the three judges, thus concluding that they can be promoted.

According to the procedure, the CSM will examine the Commission's conclusions at a public session and decide on the acceptance or rejection of the reports. According to the Constitutional Court’s interpretation, at this point, the reports are not public. The only information available to the public is the evaluation result, which is displayed on the Commission's website, in the Subjects section. The reports become public within three days after the expiration of the contestation period or after a final decision is taken by the Supreme Court of Justice.

Since its inception, the Commission has evaluated 181 subjects, out of whom 63 have resigned or withdrawn from the procedure and four have previously passed the pre-vetting evaluation.
