
Moldova wins new medal at European Weightlifting Championships
Ion Badanev, a student at the Republican Sports High School, won the bronze medal at the European Weightlifting Championships, recently held in Chișinău.
The athlete won the medal in the shot event, in the 61 kg weight category, with a result of 152 kg. He ranked fifth in the snatch event with a result of 123 kg and ranked fourth (275 kg total) in the overall ranking.
This is the fourth medal won by the national team at the current edition of the European Championships, following the three distinctions won by Dan Secrieru in the 55 kg category.
The European Weightlifting Championship is being organized for the first time in the Republic of Moldova. The competition is held on 12-21 April 2025 at Arena Chișinău, featuring around 400 athletes from 41 countries.
