White Lily international festival starts in south Moldova city
Chisinau, 4 July /MOLDPRES/ - Artistic bands from nine countries on 4-7 July will participate in the 16th issue of the Nufărul Alb (White Lily) International Folk Festival, traditionally held in the southern Cahul city.
The festival’s schedule will start today evening with a parade of popular costume, due to march on streets of the Cahul city. The event will be officially opened afterwards, followed by a holiday round dance and fireworks.
Till 7 July, artists from Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine will perform at the festival.
White Lily is one of the oldest festivals in Moldova.
The first White Lily festival took place on 3-4 July 1989. At that time, the event brought together 37 bands from Moldova, who danced and sang folk songs and displayed popular arts. At present, the Folk Festival White Lily is an international one and is held once in two years in the Cahul municipality.
