State to subsidize agricultural sector in Moldova in 2023 too
Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/ - Apiculturists will benefit from subsidies in 2023 as well, in order to be able to cut the production expenses and manage to improve the honey’s quality. Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea made statements to this effect at a joint meeting with apiculturists and representatives of the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA).
The official said the state would support the apicultural sector, including for the role of bees in the development of other fields from the agro-industrial branch. ‘’The agricultural crops pollinated with the help of bees increase their productivity by 10-30 per cent. This fact means that the pollination can bring an extra of about 200 kg of sunflower, 200 kg of rape per one hectare and, at the same time, can improve the quality of the harvest,’’ MAIA said.
Presently, about 265,000 bee families are recorded in Moldova. Year after year, the number of families increases; nevertheless, the productive potential of the apicultural branch is decreasing. This is prompted by the bad weather conditions, increase in the price for food and medication for bees, growth of the spending for the services of transportation, reducing the consumers’ purchasing power, according to the quoted source.
About 5,000 tons of honey is annually produced in Moldova, of which approximately 3,500 tons are exported.
