Moldovan PM participates in festivity dedicated to International Science Day
Chisinau, 10 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita today participated in a festivity dedicated to the International Science Day for Peace and Development, along with Education and Research Minister Anatolie Topala, diplomats, researchers, teachers and students, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In her speech, the PM referred to the accelerated pace of development of the technology and science, as well as to the need to financially back this sector, so that Moldova keep pace with the major changes which mark the world.
„Despite all difficulties of the moment, we must focus on efforts to develop and modernize the research sector, as well as to support the ambitions and innovations launched by scientists from Moldova. We have a huge human potential and specialists capable to generate outstanding scientific results, which is to bring our fame all over the world. Three months ago, I experienced indescribable emotions when I participated in the launch on the orbit of the first nano-satellite created in Moldova. This is proof that we have what to be proud of and that we deserve to occupy an honourable place on the map of the world,’’ the prime minister said.
Natalia Gavrilita touched upon the actions undertaken by the government in the last year to reform the university system. She also spoke about the goals contained in the European Moldova-2030 National Development Strategy, meant to encourage and support the research and science. The PM also encouraged researchers and the competent institutions to make international partnerships and compete for projects of foreign financing.
„I was very much happy that the agreement on Moldova’s participation in the Horizon Europe European Union’s Framework for Research and Innovation signed in Brussels last year. This is a great opportunity to attract funds for scientists to interact with colleagues from other countries, in order to promote and implement their ideas,’’ the prime minister added.
The International Science Day for Peace and Development is annually marked on 10 November and has the role to emphasize the importance of science in our daily life.
