Moldova's Commission for Emergency Situations instructs measures on country's information security
Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) has approved new measures for the protection of the national information space, through completing an earlier instruction from 16 December 2022. Thus, at a proposal by the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), on the period of the emergency state, the broadcasting licence of six TV stations will be suspended: Orizont TV, ITV, Prime, Publika TV, Canal 2 and Canal 3, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the report unveiled, SIS holds information and evidence that Russia influences the local elections due on 5 November and undermines the democratic process from Moldova, including through misinformation campaigns carried out at these TV stations.
The report of SIS shows that these TV stations are subordinated to the Shor and Plahotniuc crime rings, which, through interposed people, act together for the destabilization of the situation in Moldova. The concerned TV stations are financed through diverse obscure schemes, based on partnerships concluded with people included in lists of international sanctions.
The editorial policy of the concerned television stations is aimed at launching misinformation campaigns for discrediting the external political course of Moldova and promotion of geopolitical narratives in favour of Russia.
At the same meeting, CSE ruled to allocate from the government’s intervention fund a sum of 2.1 million lei needed for the maintenance of the centres of temporary placement for refugees.
Another decision by the Commissions deals with the extension till 31 December 2023 of the validity term of the environmental permit as to waste management and the authorization of emission of pollutants into the atmosphere from fixed sources, issued for the Moldovan Metallurgical Plant.
