Moldovan parliament speaker says new historical decision on Moldova adopted in Brussels today
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has described the acceptance of Moldova into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) as a historic decision.
The speaker noted that this step would provide Moldovan citizens and companies access to a faster, safer and very low-cost or even free payment system.
‘’At the same time, it will help reduce costs for money transfers made by Moldovans in the Diaspora, an essential aspect for many families from Moldova. Thank you again, dear friends of Moldova!’’ Grosu stressed.
Moldova officially submitted its application for accession to SEPA on January 30, 2024. The Single Euro Payments Area, or SEPA, is a system that simplifies and unifies euro payments across all member states, thereby enabling fast, secure and efficient transfers between bank accounts in the 40 participating countries. Access to this unique payment area will contribute to the modernization of the national financial sector and the creation of a competitive economic environment, conducive to investment and economic growth.
