Eight carriages of freight train run off rails in southern Moldova
Chisinau, 5 November /MOLDPRES/ - Eight railway carriages of a freight train loaded with iron ore, moving from Reni (Ukraine) to Galati (Romania), run off the rails at the entrance into the Giurgiulesti settlement, southern Moldova, on 4 November evening.
According to the Transport and Roads Infrastructure Ministry, the train was moving with a low speed. The carriages did not overturn, but only got from the rails on the embankment.
To put the carries back on rails, a train for restoration works from the Basarabeasca railway junction was directed to Giurgiulesti.
Experts of the National Railroad Company of Moldova are to establish the reasons for the incident. After the carriages are lifted on rails, the train will be able to continue its movement.
