
Chisinau, 20 August /MOLDPRES/ - A Greco-Roman wrestler of Moldova, Alexandru Solovei, has got a silver medal at the World Championships in Amman, Jordan.
According to the Education and Research Ministry (MEC), during the competition, Alexandru Solovei proved an impressive technique and determination, gaining victories against such advanced sportsmen as Abdulmasih from Russia (score 4:0), Matthews from the United States (score 8:1) , Lukac from Croatia (score 11:0) and Mars Uulu from Kazakhstan. In the final fight with a sportsman from Iran, Alireza Morad Abdevali, despite the efforts, Alexandru Solovei gave up with the score 1:1, thus ranking second at the weight category of up to 77 kg.
The sportsman and his coaches will receive money prizes on behalf of MEC at the Sports Gala, traditionally held in the end of the year.
