Moldovan government supports war veterans: increased allowances, recognized contribution periods
16 April 2025, Chișinău – War veterans, including those from the Dniester will benefit from increased allowances and recognized contribution periods. The cabinet approved a decision today in this regard.
The project involves amending the Law on additional social protection and the one related to the public pension system. Thus, new provisions on monthly state allowances, annual material assistance and the method of calculating the contribution period for war veterans will be set up.
One of the most important changes refers to the inclusion in the contribution period, in triple size, of the periods of participation in combat actions, including days of hospitalization and captivity.
At the same time, the exclusion of cases of doubling social benefits for the same category of people is envisaged, thus strengthening equity in the social assistance system. The National Social Insurance House will continue to pay allowances and material assistance to current beneficiaries without the need for re-registration.
The measures aim to ensure equitable social protection for war veterans and their family members.
