Acting Moldovan foreign affairs minister says Valeriu Chiveri one of best ambassadors, excellent negotiator, well-acquainted with Transnistrian region, problem

Deputy Prime Minister, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi, at a TV show titled, In Context, on public television today, said that the appointment of diplomat Valeriu Chiveri as deputy prime minister for reintegration was ‘’an inspired and honorable choice.’’ Popsoi highlighted his professionalism and experience in international negotiations.

‘’It is an honor to have a diplomat of Valeriu Chiveri's caliber in the government. He is one of the best ambassadors Moldova has had, an excellent negotiator, who knows the Transnistrian region and problem very well,’’ Mihai Popsoi said.

The Moldovan diplomacy head noted that he was pleased to see how the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to provide the government with professional staff, especially in such sensitive areas as reintegration.

‘’Oleg Serebrian also came from the diplomatic environment and proved how much experience matters in the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol,’’ Popsoi added.

Valeriu Chiveri, former ambassador of Moldova to Ukraine, has a diplomatic career spanning over two decades, with extensive experience in regional security, international cooperation and European policies. In his new position, he will manage the Transnistrian problem and contribute to strengthening Moldova’s reintegration process.
