Foreign interferences with democratic process in Moldova discussed at Romanian Supreme Council of National Defence
Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ - The foreign interferences with the democratic process in Moldova were discussed at a meeting of the Supreme Council of National Defence of Romania in Bucharest today. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis chaired the event.
According to Romania’s Presidency, the today meeting’s agenda was focused mainly on the security situation in the Black Sea region and the implications for Romania, against the background of the most recent developments, in the context of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, external interferences with the democratic process in Moldova, as well as in the context of the perspectives of continuation of the support on behalf of NATO, European Union and of the international community for Ukraine.
“The Council members established that Romania’s effort must continue to be comprehensive, first of all, for Moldova, which, after Ukraine, is mostly exposed to the Russian aggressions and pressures. Since the unleashing of the war at our borders, Moldova has been subjected to pressures in more fields, in order to diminish the support expressed by its citizens for a firm pro-European course, for reforms, for democracy and prosperity. Besides, Moldova is the target of hybrid actions of destabilization, of an unprecedented intensity and complexity. The Council members, at the today’s meeting, emphasized the professional, democratic and responsible way these actions had been managed by the Moldovan authorities,’’ reads a press release issued by the institution.
According to the quotes source, the Council members today analyzed the best ways of continuing a resolute support by Romania for Moldova’s efforts of strengthening its resilience. They put emphasis on the need of adaptation to the regional developments and of further consolidation of the approaches on support at the European and international levels, for Moldova’s benefit.
At the same time, the participants in the meeting of Romania’s Supreme Council of National Defence analyzed also the development of the Romanian military aviation, as well as other subjects in the national security sector.
