Discover Moldova with #MOLDPRES: Landscapes like in Switzerland in village on bank of Prut river in Edinet district
The Fetesti village, Edinet district, bears with dignity and delicacy a string of millennium-old crags and grand forests, while the small river of Draghistea flows nearby
The Fetesti village is rich in limestone deposits and the abandoned quarry creates landscapes which leaves the impression of a small Switzerland of Moldova.
The settlement is placed in a particularly picturesque area, where the limestone deposits represent an impressive evidence of the nature’s force. This place is known also as ‘’The Small Switzerland of Moldova,’’ due to the wonderful landscapes which it creates. The strait from Fetesti, with a width of 250 metres, shelters numerous caves on its high and steep edges, which are often used by lovers as romantic shelters.
The abandoned quarry from the Fetesti village provides a spectacular framework for photo sessions on various subjects. This place is a true paradise for the people fond of taking pictures and for all those who appreciate the natural beauty of these places.
Following the collapse of the Communist regime and after the stone was exhausted in the quarry, the latter was abandoned and left to degrade during time. At present, visitors can explore the ruins of the quarry and can notice how the nature took over the control over this place.
The amphitheater from Fetesti
In the area of the Fetesti village, the nature created a special monument, named by scientists Amphitheater from Fetesti, with a depth of about 100 metres, concentrating the village like in an arena. The nature created here a pass of 68 hectares, especially on the left bank of the Draghistea river.
The visiting card of the village is the Tiglau – a big crag on the peak of which one feels like flying.
The only factory of violins is placed in Fetesti
The travels to Fetesti are completed also by possibility to play the violin ‘’made in Fetesti’’
This is the only factory of violins from Moldova. The workshop and factory was created in 2018, due to Romanian partners from Reghin.
About 25-30 violins are daily assembled there and about 350 violins are made monthly. Subsequently, the violins are carried to the Reghin city of Romania.
The employees of the factory were trained on how to manufacture violins in Romania.
