Premier-designate has consultations with group of Moldova's development partners
Chisinau, 19 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister-designate Pavel Filip today had consultations with a group of Moldova's development partners. The sides exchanged opinions on urgent priorities of policies and reforms, and stressed the need of undelayed actions to settle the problems in the economic, social and governance sectors.
The candidate designated for the office of prime minister had consultations with all important segments of the society on the governance priorities. So far, Pavel Filip has had meetings with the employers and trade unions, academic environment and civil society representatives, as well as lawmakers of the Moldovan parliament - members of the parliamentary majority. The goal of the dialogue was to start an efficient cooperation between the aforementioned sides, including for specifying the governance plan.
"I rely on a long-term political stability and I am going to edify a balanced government. I am going to move forward through actions and achievements, not by populisms. It is possible to regain the people's trust only through immediate achievements," Pavel Filip said.
According to the prime minister-designate, the government must urgently focus on the attaining of four immediate objectives: ensuring an economic and financial stability of the state, ensuring immediate protection of the citizens, through social measures and enhancing confidence in the law-enforcement institutions, resuming the talks with the international partners and carrying out the measures from the Association Agreement with EU.
Filip said he was preparing to ask for the vote of confidence in parliament later this week.
On 15 January, President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree, under which acting Information Technology and Communications Minister Pavel Filip was nominated as candidate for the office of prime minister.
Under a decision by the Constitutional Court, if a new cabinet is not sworn in office till 29 January 2016, the Moldovan parliament will be dissolved and snap parliamentary elections will be called.
