Warning for drivers: restricted access for vehicles at border with Ukraine
Border authorities announce new traffic restrictions at the border with Ukraine, targeting trucks, heavy-duty vehicles and vehicles intended for passenger transport.
According to the Border Police, the restriction applies to the road section from km 11+920 to km 308+000 and has been introduced by the Ukrainian authorities to prevent accidents and emergency situations.
Under these conditions, travel to and from the following border crossing points is temporarily suspended for the aforementioned categories of vehicles: Palanca–Maiaki–Udobnoe, Tudora–Starokazacie, Basarabeasca–Serpniovo-1, Ceadîr-Lunga–Maloiaroslaveț-1, Săiți–Lesnoe, Giurgiulești–Reni, Cișmichioi–Dolinskoe, Vulcănești–Vinogradovka, Mirnoe–Tabaki and Ceadîr-Lunga–Novie Troiani.
Authorities recommend that transport operators and citizens avoid travel in the affected areas unless strictly necessary and follow official sources for up-to-date information on road conditions and any restrictions.
According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, until today at 20:00, heavy snowfall and strengthening winds with speeds of up to 15–20 m/s are forecast across the country. As a result, blizzard conditions are expected, with snowdrifts forming and a considerable reduction in visibility. Roads will become icy, and in isolated areas sleet and glaze ice will be reported.
