
Moldovan acting PM meets friendship parliamentary group Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus of Austrian National Council
Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister, acting Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a meeting with the parliamentary group of friendship with Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus of Austria’s National Council (parliament). The discussion was open and the MPs highlighted that Moldova, as state associated with the European Union, remained a priority country for Austria.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service, the friendship group members, who are members of all five factions represented ion the Austrian parliament, were interested in a wide spectrum of subjects on the present situation in Moldova – from the domestic and regional political situation, up to the economic, social, educational situation, as well as the country’s environment policy.
The Moldovan official made a detailed retrospective of the domestic political situation, political prospects and developments. Special emphasis was put on Moldova’s goal to continue the country’s European integration, need to continuously implement the internal reforms, as a priority in the justice sector, through adjusting to the European standards.
Aureliu Ciocoi emphasized the importance of the European projects, including Austrian ones, and of foreign investments in the development of the economy and labour market in Moldova. The Austrian MPs showed interest in Moldova’s cooperation with the states of the eastern neighbourhood, settlement of social problems and interest in investing into an ecological economy.
The acting PM referred to the fruitful communication of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine in the Eastern Partnership. He voiced hope that these countries would get support on behalf of EU in their European integration.
A special subject of the meeting was focused on the Transnistrian conflict settlement, with the observance of the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova within the internationally recognized borders and the withdrawal of the foreign troops and ammunitions from the country’s territory.
A special interest regarded the political education of the young generation and the prospect for cooperation with the academies existing at the Austrian political parties.
At the same time, the interlocutors expressed interest to pay a visit to Moldova in next autumn, in order to develop the inter-parliamentary cooperation, exchange experience, as well as in the context of promoting Moldovan-Austrian development projects.
