
Moldovan government announced largest increase in pensions in country's history
Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița announced today the largest increase in pensions in the history of the Republic of Moldova, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
The government has finalized the project to increase the minimum pension. Thus, starting with October 1, 2021, 183 thousand retirees with full contribution period, who received less than 2000 lei, will receive a minimum pension of 2000 lei per month. Currently, the minimum pension is 1188.05 lei.
On average, the pension will increase by 366 lei for people with a full contribution period and who have so far had a pension of less than 2000 lei. At the same time, 125 thousand people with an incomplete contribution period will benefit from an increase of the pension by an average of 398 lei. The allowances for 84 thousand beneficiaries of social allowances, the amount of which depends on the value of the minimum pension will increase on average by 450 lei.
Also, from October 1, 2021, all pensioners will benefit from a 3.86% indexation of pensions.
"All retirees will benefit from significant increases, both those with incomplete internships and those with full internships. The costs of this increase are covered by this year's budget accumulations, which have increased. It is the internal resources of the state that will be prioritized in such a way as to cover the expenses for the significant increase of pensions. I am sure that the good news for retirees will continue ", said Prime Minister Gavrilița.
The Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Marcel Spatari, said: “The new changes provide support for vulnerable pensioners with the lowest pensions. 428 thousand people will benefit from these increases ".
Deputy Dan Perciun mentioned: “It is an important result, which will contribute to increasing the well-being of the population. Unfortunately, in our country the most vulnerable are people with disabilities and pensioners. We believe that such measures are necessary and must be continued. Other good news for retirees will follow. We have made several commitments that will be honored. I want to hope that these measures will be adopted in the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova with the votes of all deputies. "
Government decisions and bills supporting this pension increase are due to be adopted this week.
