Parliament to convene in special session

Parliament will convene in a special session on 17 August, during which oath-taking ceremony by the Constitutional Court judges will take place. Speaker Igor Grosu made the statement today.

In this context, the official underlined that on Friday, he will convene the standing bureau.

The 11th legislative Parliament concluded its mandate on 11 July 2025; however, until the legal meeting of the new Legislature, the institution can fully exercise its functions of representation, control and internal organization. The legislative function is exercised to a limited extent, restricted to adopting ordinary laws, resolutions and simple motions.

According to the Parliament's Regulations, the Legislature meets in two ordinary sessions per year. The spring parliamentary session concluded on 31 July 2025. When not in ordinary session, the Parliament can convene in an extraordinary or special session upon the request of the President of the Republic of Moldova, the Speaker or one-third of the deputies.
