
Moldova starts EU accession negotiations// U.S. Embassy says this achievement shows citizens' wish for democratic future
Chisinau, 25 June /MOLDPRES/ - The United States welcomes the negotiations on Moldova's accession to the European Union, which start in Luxembourg today. The USA gives assurances that it will continue the cooperation with the Moldovan authorities, in order to back Moldova’s progress.
The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau ‘’warmly’’ congratulate Moldova’s citizens on the first meeting of the Conference on Moldova’s Accession to the European Union.
„This new achievement on the path to Moldova’s European integration shows its citizens’ wish for a democratic, prosperous and safe future, anchored in the free world. The United States will continue to cooperate with the citizens and government of Moldova, in order to support the country’s progress on this way,’’ reads a press release of the U.S. Embassy.
The negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the European Union will be officially launched in Luxembourg today. The Moldovan delegation is led by Prime Minister Dorin Recean. Deputy PM for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov as chief negotiator in the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union is present in Luxembourg as well.
Following the conference in Luxembourg, Moldova and the European Union are to accept the General Negotiation Position – the document in which Moldova accepts the framework of negotiation proposed by EU and which shows the principles and guidelines established in the framework of negotiation.
