
Tatiana Molcean appointed as Executive Secretary of UN Economic Commission for Europe
Chisinau, July 27. /MOLDPRES/- Ambassador Tatiana Molcean, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Moldova to the UN Office, WTO and other international organizations in Geneva, was appointed as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration /MAEIE/, Tatiana Molcean's appointment to this UN top management position, following a competitive contest, is a reconfirmation of her diplomatic and leadership qualities, as well as extensive knowledge in the organization's areas of competence. It is a clear recognition of the professionalism, the successes and achievements of the Moldovan diplomacy, the commitments at the governmental level towards the multilateral agenda, the MAEIE said.
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (https://unece.org) was founded in 1947 to encourage economic cooperation among member states, as one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations.
The multilateral platform comes to facilitate better economic integration between the 56 member states of Europe, North America and Central Asia, promoting sustainable development and economic prosperity through political dialogue, negotiation of international legal instruments, development of regulations and norms, exchange and application of best practices, economic and technical expertise, and technical cooperation for countries with economies in transition.
